With approximately eight seconds to attract a consumer's attention, innovative packaging is more important to brands than ever before. During the Digital Packaging Summit, design strategist and brand visionary Vicki Strull discussed how digital printing fits into this equation.

Representatives from small brands took the stage at the fourth annual Digital Packaging Summit to discuss their packaging needs and the impact digital printing has on their businesses.

During Pack Expo, which was held from October 14-17 in Chicago, Mondi highlighted multiple new packaging innovations. These included custom packaging capabilities that help food and pet food manufacturers to differentiate their products on retail shelves and a water-repellent paper bag that meets outdoor industrial packaging requirements.

Glenroy Inc., a flexible packaging printer and converter in Menomonee Falls, Wis., has been selected as the exclusive pouch converter of the new premade STANDCAP Pouch. The STANDCAP Pouch is designed for controlled dispensing, allowing the consumer to access nearly 100% of the product inside.

When looking at the packaging Control Group produced for Gillette's Venus Swirl razor, the image of the razor's "Flexi Ball" appears to jump out from the substrate as a three-dimensional object. However, it was the use of a Fresnel lens that created this optical illusion and earned Control Group first place in the Technical Achievement Specialty Category in the 2018 packagePRINTING Excellence Awards.
