Specialized Packaging Group Ranks 33rd On Black Enterprise Magazine’s Top 100
HAMDEN, Conn.—The Specialized Packaging Group, Inc. (SPG) has been ranked 33rd on Black Enterprise Magazine’s 2007 Annual BE 100s list, a ranking conducted annually for black-owned businesses with exceptional sales revenues. The company had revenues of more than $134 million in 2006.
The BE 100s were established in 1973 as a way to recognize the contributions and growth of black businesses in corporate America. In total, BE 100s companies employ more than 87,000 people and generate revenues of more than $22 billion. A company must be at least 51 percent black-owned and must have been fully operational for the previous calendar year to be considered.
The privately owned Specialized Packaging Group, Inc, is the largest minority-owned and one of the largest independent manufacturers of paperboard packaging in North America. The company prints and produces paperboard packaging for some of the world’s most recognizable consumer brands. SPG deploys the widest range of printing and converting processes available in the industry, including primography, lithography, flexography, and rotogravure. The company has more than 500 employees at manufacturing sites, design centers and sales offices located in Connecticut, New York, Virginia, Kansas, North Carolina, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Ontario, Canada.
