Action Packaging, a $15 million company headquartered in Ellington, CT, currently provides flexographic and digital printing services, as well as label application equipment (CTM Labeling and its own Gold Seal line), for food, beverage, household goods, and industrial products packaging.

Since installing a new Xeikon 3300 digital color press at its facility in South Easton, MA, Lion Labels is now able to print on a wider range of substrates. According to Michael Berke, Lion Labels' general manager, the press was the ideal solution since most of its customers are startup companies that need labels for new- or test-market products.

At Labelexpo Americas 2012, a steady parade of show attendees were treated to a wide array of new products and technology demonstrations. A major highlight of the show, the Label Industry Global Awards 2012, took place on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Steve Lee, vice president of technology at RotoMetrics, was honored with the prestigious R Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award.

At the laser diecutting workshop at Labelexpo Americas, Xeikon's Vectorizor was well received. Vectorizor (patent pending) is an automatic diecut generator that defines a new standard in communication with laser diecutting devices, creating new opportunities to further automate label production and increase productivity.

At Labelexpo Americas, Xeikon NV revealed a new software add-on to the Xeikon X-800 digital front-end. Xeikon's patent-pending Vectorizor enables the digital front-end to generate, next to the printable bitmaps, diecut files that can be used to connect to laser diecutting devices.

At Labelexpo Americas 2012 in Chicago next week, Xeikon will showcase several new products, technologies and solutions that are designed to enhance Web-to-label integration and improve production workflow, while helping printers reduce their printing costs and diversify into new applications and services.
