Recognizing the efforts of Rainer Prosi at Heidelberg to contribute to the development of the Job Definition Format (JDF) Specification, CIP4 has given Prosi a CIP4 Fellowship Award.

Some 80 representatives from label producers around the world met at the Print Media Center of Heidelberg on September 23 and 24. Heidelberg showed how its packaging solutions could be used flexibly and highly productively for industrial label production.

September was a busy month for trade shows and conferences. The TLMI Technical Conference kicked it off, followed in quick succession by PRINT 13/CPP Expo, Pack Expo, and Labelexpo Europe. The numbers from the shows are just coming in and show significant attendance increases across the board and some record-breaking performances.

The folding carton printers interviewed for this story face mostly the same agenda of business issues as the managers of other kinds of printing businesses. Two items of special interest in their segment—competition from offshore packaging manufacturers, and paperboard supply—came up in the conversations.
