Thoro Packaging Releases 2015 Sustainability Report
According to NatureOffice’s 2015 Sustainability Report, Thoro Packaging of Corona, CA strives to be a steward for the environment. Among Thoro’s many achievements are the addition of charging stations on-site for electric vehicles, use of vegetable based inks in printing, and many programs that encourage its employees to participate. For example, Thoro’s Employee Recycling Program involves employees in the sustainability process and has become an effective way of conveying the importance of recycling. It has set off a chain reaction where employees are now utilizing good sustainability practices at home and other aspects of their lives. In this way, one of the most important aspects of Thoro’s sustainability program is importance placed on education and responsible manufacturing.
According to the report, a significant way that Thoro has contributed to sustainability is through conservation. By replacing high energy consuming machinery and lighting with more energy efficient equipment, as well as replacing their exterior landscaping with plants that require a fraction of the water usage, Thoro Packaging has greatly reduced its carbon footprint. According to Thoro, however, this is just a single step in its journey. By implementing continuous improvement programs that concentrate on sustainability, it is Thoro Packaging’s goal of becoming a “Zero Waste Facility.”
