Mark Tibbetts to Lead TLMI with Strong Association Management and Sustainability Experience
After his appointment as president of the Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute was announced in November, Mark Tibbetts officially took office yesterday, becoming the fourth president in TLMI’s 82 years of existence.
As TLMI announced in November, Tibbetts has a strong background in association management, having spent the last six years as the executive director of the Thermostat Recycling Corp., which he helped to restructure and become a very well-known entity among the HVAC industry.
"It's an honor to be TLMI's new president in what is such a dynamic and constantly changing industry,” Tibbetts said. “My prior professional experience has involved managing the growth and member offerings of associations in the manufacturing and non-profit sectors. Having been based in Washington, D.C. for nearly 20 years, I understand what it means to confront and shape the shifting compliance and regulatory standards that impact an association's members.”
According to a press release from TLMI, Tibbetts will spend the first months on the job visiting converter and supplier TLMI members. He will also be meeting with the association’s executive committee and will be on hand at the TLMI Committee Event held in Tampa, Florida, at the end of the month.
“We are thrilled to have Mark on board and to have him at the helm of this new chapter for the association, and for the greater industry,” Dan Muenzer, TLMI’s chairman, said.
Tibbetts succeeds Frank Sablone as the association’s president, who announced his retirement after 17 years with TLMI. According to TLMI’s November announcement, Sablone will remain in an advisory role until the end of 2016.
“I am confident that the association’s success will continue with Mark at the helm and I know our members will offer him the same unwavering support they have given me all these years,” Sablone said in the press release.
Coming from a professional background with an emphasis on sustainability, Tibbetts says that among his goals for the association is the promotion and participation of recycling.
“Driving recycling participation and awareness were at the core of my role in my previous association and I look forward to bringing my experience and knowledge in this area to TLMI,” Tibbetts said. “TLMI is in a strong position in terms of member involvement and industry leadership and I am excited to begin building upon what is such a secure foundation.”
