At the 11-day drupa trade fair at the end of May, UV systems manufacturer IST METZ will be displaying its products for the printing industry on a stand extending to 400 m². The company will display UV lamp and UV LED systems at stand B10 in Hall 2.
In collaboration with its subsidiary Integration Technology Ltd., which has specialized in digital printing products, IST METZ offers the largest portfolio of UV systems in the world. The company supplies customized solutions to the printing industry in sheet-fed, web-fed and digital printing applications.
IST METZ will be showing the practical application of its systems on a printing press on its stand, demonstrating the use of UV lamp systems for printing packaging and UV LED systems for commercial printing on a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL75-6+L (UV-Anicolor). The machine will run four times a day and make a printed product developed especially for the trade fair to highlight the benefits of the technology for the target group in question.
The focus of the trade fair appearance will be the “HYcure” product concept for sheet-fed, web-fed and narrow-web printing. IST METZ equips its UV units in such a way that they can be switched to operate either with UV lamps or with UV LEDs. The housing, cooling and electrical supply are identical for both systems; the cassette with the light source just needs switching in the printing press. This hybrid concept is of particular interest to printers who would like to set up their presses to suit individual jobs, but without a great deal of complexity. If they acquire the one technology, they always have the option of switching to the other at a later date. If their customers’ requirements change, they can easily retrofit the other system. The HYcure concept will also be demonstrated at the trade fair with the aid of the MBS system for label printing. This system was first demonstrated at Labelexpo Europe last autumn.
IST METZ recommends use of its UV LED systems to commercial printers who have not yet done much with UV curing.
“The very particular benefits of UV technology come into play here: dry in just seconds, processing can continue immediately, significantly reduced paper waste,” Holger Kühn, managing director sales at IST METZ, said. "UV LED technology is especially suitable for 4C printing without complex finishing effects. We have been doing our homework in this area over the past few years, and are in a position to offer our customers an unrivalled high-performance system."
