HP Makes Major Digital Printing Splash at Interpack

HP Unveils PageWide C500 Press for Corrugated Packaging

At interpack 2017, HP Inc. announced HP PageWide C500 Press production capacity of up to 25 million square meters of boards per year, powered by proven HP PageWide Thermal Inkjet Technology.
A robust direct-to-board digital corrugated solution, the HP PageWide C500 also prints on 1.3 meter-wide boards using an innovative corrugated media handling solution with a virtual belt. Announced at drupa 2016, customer beta testing is scheduled to begin at the end of this year, with commercial availability planned for 2018.
“This post-print corrugated solution from HP is yet another step toward digital conversion of traditional printing, offering savings in waste and setup time and improved supply chain efficiencies, in addition to high-quality color graphics, easy customization, and unique versioning capabilities,” Eric Wiesner, general manager, HP PageWide Industrial Division, HP Inc., said. “The HP PageWide C500 will help converters to differentiate with capabilities that only single-pass thermal inkjet and aqueous inks can deliver.”
The single-pass, digital post-print HP PageWide C500 solution is designed for any-sized corrugated facility for printing applications from shippers to high-quality graphics boxes, on coated and uncoated papers, without need for lamination, all in offset-replaceable quality.
Corrugators Adopting HP Digital Corrugated Solutions
The commercially released HP PageWide T400S Press, HP PageWide T1100S Press , HP Scitex 17000 Corrugated Press, and HP Scitex 15500 Corrugated Press are already used by HP customers to quickly turn around short-to-mid-run jobs and keep up with market demands, while delivering more versatility. These customers are anticipating the HP PageWide C500:

Inland Packaging Installs HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press
Inland Packaging, a leader in advanced packaging technology, has completed installation of an HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press to extend the benefits of digital printing to brands in flexible packaging, shrink sleeves and pressure-sensitive products.

The first digital acquisition for the 73-year-old company focused on label and packaging printing, the HP Indigo 20000 press was installed at Inland’s Neenah, Wis. facility.
“Customization is becoming more and more popular with consumers and therefore desired by brand owners. The digital capabilities of the HP Indigo 20000 will allow us to provide expanded personalization and variable data options to our customers,” said Jackie Kuehlmann, director of marketing at Inland.
Long known as a premier label printer, Inland will be using the HP Indigo 20000 to support its growth in flexible packaging as well as shrink sleeves and pressure sensitive products. It plans to deliver enhanced graphics, expedited speed to market and versioning for its customers.
In particular, Inland will be targeting brand revival, brand introductions, and product launches where only a digital printing solution can deliver.
Lauterbach Group Selects HP Indigo 8000 Digital Label Press
Lauterbach Group has chosen the HP Indigo 8000 digital press to expand its digital offering to brands, primarily to offer high-quality shrink sleeve capabilities for its clients in wine, beer and spirits production.
The Lauterbach Group has acquired an HP Indigo 8000 digital press for label production.
The HP Indigo 8000 provides more throughput than any other narrow-web digital press in the market, at a speed of up to 262 linear fpm. Lauterbach installed the press at its Sussex, Wis. site, making it the first HP Indigo 8000 service available in the Midwest.
“The HP Indigo 8000 and our OmniMark Management System for product marking give us the ability to offer our clients improved supply chain management, speed to market, and lower overall costs, while at the same time helping with product and brand development,” said Shane Lauterbach, president.
In particular, Lauterbach said, the HP solution was chosen for its ability to help the company deliver new ways for its clients to communicate to consumers.
“We do not want to only produce labels, but to offer product brand solutions to enable our clients to tell their story and show why they are different,” he said.
