Clondalkin Group Acquires Accutech Films
Clondalkin Group, an international producer of flexible and specialist packaging products, announced the acquisition of Ohio based Accutech Films Inc., a producer of customized and highly engineered flexible plastic films for industrial, agricultural, food and beverage applications. With its state-of-the-art research and development, product engineering capabilities and extensive, well invested mono, co-extrusion and printing facilities, Accutech is an acknowledged product innovator of high value-added customized and protective packaging.
Over the last 10 years the company has successfully developed its product range through strong technology based differentiation and innovative film use. From its modern production facilities in Ohio it is well placed to deliver superior and prompt customer service throughout the Mid-West and beyond. The acquisition further expands Clondalkin’s presence in the North American flexible packaging sector. Accutech will augment Clondalkin’s plastic packaging businesses that include Fortune Plastics which has several production facilities in Connecticut, Tennessee, Illinois, Florida and Arizona – as well as Toronto-based Direct Plastics acquired in June 2007.
Commenting on the acquisition, Norbert McDermott, CEO of Clondalkin Group, stated: “The Accutech acquisition expands our geographic and technological capability in North America. Accutech’s growth record and strong product differentiation are key attractions for us. Between our North American and European plastic packaging operations, we now operate 10 dedicated plants supplying high barrier, multilayer, printed and biodegradable plastic films to specialist applications in the industrial, food, beverage, retail, medical and agricultural & horticultural markets. Accutech represents a significant expansion for us in these segments.”
Nick Ruchty, CEO and one of the founders of Accutech, stated: “I am delighted to align Accutech with an international specialist packaging group with existing well-established businesses in North America. Clondalkin is an ideal partner for us, and we were particularly drawn to its record of assiduously developing acquired companies to achieve their potential. The main pillars of our production and service ethos are engineering, innovation and performance. We observe that Clondalkin Group has a like-minded approach in its businesses. We are very excited about the development prospects we have unlocked for our customers, suppliers and employees by completing this acquisition.”
Paul Hogan, Clondalkin’s Director of Development whose team handled the acquisition, said: “We are delighted to welcome Nick Ruchty, his management team, sales executives and employees into Clondalkin Group. Accutech has an outstanding reputation as an innovative, customer-focused supplier of high quality films and provides an excellent platform to further implement our strategic objectives.”
