GLOUCESTER, Mass.—The Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) and Tarsus announce that CEOs from four of the label industry’s leading companies will participate in a special roundtable and luncheon session to share their expertise with other converters.

The label market is in good shape. Although the recent recession has affected every segment of package printing, the label industry is still well positioned for the medium to the long term, according to Corey Reardon, president and CEO of AWA. "Unfortunately in the short term, the impact has been negative with plenty of casualties in job losses and business performance, even company and plant closures," he says.

GLOUCESTER, Mass.—More than 300 attendees gathered recently for TLMI’s Technical Conference, an association event held biannually in Chicago. During the course of two days more than 60 presenters led technical discussions and gave presentations addressing the narrow-web converting industry’s current trends, challenges, and opportunities at the conference’s themed “Get Smart” format.

What goes up, must come down—so the saying goes. This could be used to describe the business climate during 2008 in any number of ways. In one way, both the going up and the coming down had significant negative effects.

SHARONVILLE, Ohio—Multi-Color Corporation announced that Nigel A. Vinecombe has been appointed chief operating officer, effective immediately. Vinecombe, 45, became President of the International Business Unit and a Director of Multi-Color in February 2008 at the time the company acquired Collotype International Holdings Pty Ltd. From 2000 to 2008, he served as Group Managing Director of Collotype Labels.
