Integration Is Key at Multifilm Packaging

The common trait of successful companies in a competitive market is doing whatever they do really well. For Multifilm Packaging, that requires a laser-like focus on a particular segment of food packaging. "We are not a general converter or a one-stop shop," affirms CEO Olle Mannertorp. "We specialize in the confectionary market and piece-wrap materials and produce barrier structures and materials for high-speed packaging lines. Integration is our key, including in-house extrusion and metallization."

Design Label has been a member of TLMI for about as long as the Dunphy's have owned the company.

PRINT 13 and CPP EXPO: Wrapping It All Up

PRINT 13 and CPP EXPO had a successful five-day run in McCormick Place. "Two common themes seemed to be repeated by attendees and exhibitors alike at the show this year," reported Ralph Nappi, president of the Graphic Arts Show Company. "First, a sense of optimism existed that has not been evidenced in our industry for a few years; the second was the surprising number of deals that were inked at the show."

Ahead of the Pack –Polischuk

There is no doubt that competition is fierce in the folding carton market. Associations such as the Paperboard Packaging Council's (PPC) can provide invaluable resources to help companies stay ahead of the pack.

2013 Excellence Awards: Simply a Great Piece

The 27th edition of packagePRINTING's Excellence Awards competition lived up to its name. A wide array of entries representing the breadth of the package-printing industry—labels, flexible packaging, folding cartons, and corrugated—again reflected what is happening throughout the industry as a whole.

PRINT CPP = WOW!

Of significant interest to package printers is the strategic co-location of CPP EXPO at PRINT 13, which reflects the ever-growing importance of the package-printing segment in the graphic communications industry. Show attendees planning to attend either PRINT 13 or CPP EXPO will gain single-pass entry to both events.

Converting Suppliers Meet Short-run Needs

The impact of shorter production runs, combined with the established practices at lean, productive companies to minimize inventories at all stages of production, has resulted in many supply chain changes, including those at converters that supply materials to package printers.
