SYDNEY, Australia—Magellan Technology Pty. Ltd. is licensing the intellectual property rights covered in its newly granted patents (US7259654 and US7248145) as required by ISO 18000-3 Mode 2, ISO 18000-6 and other RFID microchip (ASIC) applications. Equivalent patents have already been granted in Europe. The patents relate to the ability of microchips to retain their state when they lose power while in an interrogating field. This ability is used throughout the RFID industry and is variously referred to as “persistence” (refer ISO 18000-6) as well as “TRAM” (refer ISO 18000-3 Mode 2).
