The North American FTA put ‘Color in Focus’ before an audience of nearly 300 flexographers during its recent annual Fall Conference. The assembly consisted largely of printers; but suppliers, pre-press technicians, consumer product companies, teachers and students were also represented as well. Co-chaired by Mark Mazur of DuPont Packaging Graphics and Dan Collins of Berry Plastics, the event took place in St Louis, Missouri, where 14 speakers and 34 conference exhibitors were present. Southwest Plastic Binding Company Inc. announced that effective immediately, its name has changed to Southwest Binding and Laminating. The company has changed its name as part of a comprehensive campaign to improve its focus on core customers.

MGI USA, a manufacturer of multi-substrate (paper and plastic) digital press and finishing solutions, announced that they have added six new dealers to its U.S. network within recent months.

Carol Stream, IL—Altivity Packaging, LLC announced its decision to discontinue operations at its North Kansas City, MO, folding carton plant. The facility produces folding cartons for a variety of consumer goods companies. The decision was made after careful review of the plant’s operations, available capacity within the company’s Folding Carton and Boxboard Mill Division, current economic market conditions and strategic fit. Operations will be consolidated with other Altivity Packaging folding carton facilities within the company. The plant’s final day of production is tentatively scheduled for December 30, 2006. A total of 111 salaried and hourly employees are affected.
