Heidelberg will premiere its new Digimatrix 60 FC die cutter and hot-foiler and the Diana Go 85 folder gluer – both machines ideal for short runs and digital packaging – at Printing United in Booth 10143. Heidelberg hosted more than 400 guests from all over the world at its recent Packaging Day at the Wiesloch-Walldorf site. Heidelberg's digital solutions were on display, including the Primefire 106, which is now installed in Heidelberg's Print Media Center Packaging.

The Heidelberg Primefire 106 and Prinect Press Center XL 2, which were both launched at drupa 2016, have earned an iF Design Award from the International Forum Design. The award recognizes achievements in a variety of product design categories.

Green Bay Packaging, a leading producer of folding cartons, corrugated packaging and point-of-purchase displays, has installed the 1,000th Very Large Format (VLF) printing unit from Heidelberg.

Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS) is the first pilot user of a Heidelberg Primefire 106 seven-color digital inkjet press. The pilot phase commenced in January and the system is part of a major investment program at the site.

Premier Folding Carton, a Cincinnati-based division of SJS Packaging, installed a Heidelberg Promatrix 106 CS diecutting machine in July and is seeing benefits in cost savings. This was the first U.S. install of a Heidelberg Promatrix 106 CS.

Through its apprenticeship program, Heidelberg is seeking to increase the number of skilled operators in the printing industry. This year, the company hosted 90 apprentices at its Wiesloch-Walldorf, Germany, location, and is hoping to launch an apprenticeship program in the United States.

Heidelberg has launched a new development center project at its Wiesloch-Walldorf location, which will result in a state-of-the-art research facility for the printing industry. To mark the project's launch, Heidelberg hosted Theresia Bauer, minister of science, research and the arts for the German state of Baden-Württemberg, at the facility.
