TECHKON Establishes TECHKON USA
READING, Mass.—TECHKON GmbH announced that it is bringing the “next generation of color measurement tools to town” with the establishment of TECHKON USA. This North American operation will market TECHKON’s SpectroPlate, SpectroDens, and Scanning Spectro-densitometer products. These TECHKON products provide a combination of ergonomics, speed, and accuracy for prepress companies, print houses, and print buyers worldwide.
Constructed without any moving mechanical parts, TECHKON products share a hand-friendly design that can be maneuvered over the color target and activated with a button—all in one fluid motion. All products feature TECHKON’s spectral sensors, optical system, and image processing algorithms, which provide a measurement speed of one second.
“Efficiency and productivity are where the rubber meets the road in our increasingly competitive printing industry,” commented George Adam, TECHKON USA president and former founder of Monaco Systems. “The establishment of TECHKON’s North American operation represents a significant advance in our ability to address one of the printing industry’s most pressing concerns: a rising worldwide demand for faster, easier, and more accurate measurement tools capable of boosting productivity by maximizing on-press time.”
TECHKON’s SpectroDens provides quality control at the press through the automatic measurement of densities, dot gains, and spot colors in order to ensure consistent print-to-print color, while SpectroPlate offers dot analysis and measurement of traditional or process-less printing plates.
SpectroDens features include:
•Automatic CMYK functionality, requiring one measurement to yield all four CMYK values and obtain densities for each color.
•G7 functionality support, enabling a display of both L*, a*, b* and CMYK values, with recommendation of ink zone adjustments of the press.
SpectroPlate features include:
•Two spectrally-balanced light sources to illuminate subjects with a 120X optically magnified image.
•High resolution real-time image display for dot measurement fidelity.
Scan Measurement Systems features include:
•A patented scanning technology with an ergonomic design that slides across ink zone control strips taking automatic color and density measurements.
•Dual functionality for automatic scanning and individual color measurements.
