Plastilene Installs BST Defect Detection W&H Presses
ELMHURST, Ill.—Plastilene, S. A., a leading South American converter of flexible packages, has successfully completed a trial of automatic print defect detection on three BST Premius inspection systems at the company’s Bogotá, Colombia production facility, and has completed the purchase for all three machines.
The trial of defect detection took place over two months concurrently on three BST Premius inspection systems installed on Windmoeller & Hoelscher (W&H) flexo presses. Plastilene wanted to prove the effectiveness of defect detection and to quantify the impact and determine its ROI. Plastilene produces flexible packages for solid and liquid food and agricultural products on a wide range of extensible films at high speeds.
Said Alejandro Defrancisco, plant manager, “The trial showed that BST Premius with automatic print defect detection is an extremely effective tool for managing print quality on press. It contributes significantly to better print quality, reduced waste, and improved production efficiencies, while allowing us to deliver the very best possible quality product to our customers on a daily basis.”
