To counter these trends, security features—such as serialization; thermochromic, coin-reactive, color shifting, or invisible ink; optical watermarks; holograms; tamper-evident seals; hard-to-reproduce microprinting; and other overt and covert identification symbols—can be incorporated in packaging to provide authentication and redundancy and to deter counterfeiters.
