PPC Runs Folding Carton Boot Camp
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—On December 6-7, 2011, the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) hosted the Folding Carton Boot Camp workshop at PPC headquarters in Springfield, Mass., attended by 16 participants from across the U.S. and Canada.
Industry experts explained the packaging production process, beginning with how paperboard is made, on to inks and coatings, prepress, CAD, layout, graphics, presses, tooling, embossing, stamping, stripping, finishing, gluing, windowing, and finally, automatic packaging equipment. To honor the completion of this intensive educational program, participants were each awarded a certificate of achievement.
“We hosted a truly impressive group of very intuitive students and engaging speakers,” said Ben Markens, president of PPC. “Thanks to our bevy of industry experts, these attendees at this December’s boot camp will return to their companies with a thorough comprehension of how the cartons they promote on a daily basis are actually created.”
The Folding Carton Boot Camp is ideal for anyone new to carton construction (even if not new to the industry) as well as non-plant personnel with limited experience outside a single plant operation. The next Boot Camp is scheduled for May 29-30 2012; call Susan Martins at 413-686-9192 for more information or to register.
