Constantia Flexibles, the world’s third-largest producer of flexible packaging has collaborated with its digital partner, Smartflex, and HP to supply Mondelēz with a standout seasonal campaign for Spanish heritage holiday brand, Suchard. Leveraging the HP Indigo 25K digital press, 6.8 million uniquely numbered Suchard chocolate bars were produced, transforming packaging into a personalized consumer experience.
Brought to life through HP’s Brands Innovation Platform and Garage Program, the campaign launched in Spain reimagined the seasonal staple, Suchard turrón, as a personalized, uniquely numbered collectible in the lead-up to Christmas. Powered by the HP Indigo 25K and HP SmartStream Designer, 6.8 million personalized packages with precise colour consistency and seamless variable data controls were produced with short-run flexibility, finalising in just six months, with many selling out in stores shortly after launch due to high demand.
The HP Indigo 25K combines high-speed digital production with wide substrate compatibility and color control precision. Its ability to deliver personalized, high-quality flexible packaging at scale made it the ideal choice for managing millions of unique packs without compromising turnaround times or visual consistency.
With the campaign tagline “Esta Navidad cada tableta es única” (“This Christmas every tablet is unique”), Mondelēz Spain created a packaging-first activation that drove emotional engagement and retail visibility, during the most competitive period of the year.
“This campaign wouldn’t have been possible without HP’s innovation and support. Together, we turned a packaging idea into a nationwide experience," said Olaya González, Brand Manager Chocolate seasonal Spain.
This activation marks a significant milestone in the European FMCG space as the first personalization campaign of this kind and scale in Spain’s confectionery market. It also reinforces the operational and commercial strengths of digital printing, allowing Mondelēz Spain to personalize at scale while reducing waste, limiting overproduction, and enabling supply chain agility that can flex with seasonal demand.
“This project exemplifies how HP Indigo enables brands and converters to move beyond conventional packaging and craft immersive consumer experiences that elevate marketing impact,” said Abel Sanchez, Head of Brands and Sustainability Innovation, HP. “Constantia Flexibles and Smartflex combined precision with creativity, and together we’ve demonstrated the power of digital print to deliver both emotional connection and commercial results.”
Constantia Flexibles has helped Mondelēz Spain elevate Suchard from a holiday favorite to a shared national moment on the shelf, at home, and across digital channels. With HP Indigo at the heart of its production model, Constantia Flexibles continues to help global brands harness the power of packaging as a platform for creativity, connection, and commercial growth.
