Best Label, located in Cerritos, California, has purchased a Gallus ECS 340 label printing press. The ECS 340 will join Best Label's seven Gallus R-160 rotary letterpresses.
“The new press will handle silkscreening on wider web labels than we could previously make," Gary Ingle, Best Label's operations manager, said. "We do a lot of business in the water bottles and cosmetics industries, where we lay down an opaque background on supported film then print with four-color process. This new press will have three screen stations plus eight UV flexo stations, enhancing our ability to produce greater volumes of high quality labels for the consumer markets we serve.”
Ingle added that he was impressed with the ECS 340's construction and operability.
“The press’s granite base is a reflection of Gallus itself — solid as a rock," he said. "We are impressed with how smoothly and quietly it runs. The granite base also enhances stability. The self-contained, water-cooled impression cylinders are another feature we really like. And, of course, the press is completely servo driven — no gears to wear or slip.”
Best Label’s press will also have two die stations, a cold foil unit and auto-register. Delivery is expected in December.
