ASU Chancellor To Address Phoenix Challenge Fundraising Luncheon
CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Kenneth Edward Peacock, Chancellor of Appalachian State University (ASU) in Boone, N.C., will address the Phoenix Challenge Foundation’s annual fundraising luncheon as the keynote speaker on Oct. 4, 2007, at the Doubletree Charlotte Airport Hotel.
Peacock became ASU’s sixth chancellor in July 2004. During his brief tenure, the university has experienced significant growth in several areas while continuing to advance academic quality, which directs extensive national attention to the school. Additionally, under his leadership, more than $156 million in capital improvements and new construction have been completed on the campus, with another $111 million in construction projects currently underway.
The university has become a the choice of some of the country’s brightest high school graduates, resulting in a 2007-2008 freshman class that is the largest, most diverse and most competitive in the school’s history.
Prior to his appointment as chancellor, Peacock served Appalachian State University as interim provost and executive vice chancellor, as well as dean of the Walker College of Business, where he first accepted a faculty position. He has been associated with ASU for more than 22 years.
The entire luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The price to sponsor a table of 10 is $550; an individual seat is $65. Seating is limited.
