Printing Awards —Polischuk
Achievement awards for top-quality printing provide something to brag about. Even more than that, they can give a printer a golden opportunity to market its award-winning capabilities to prospective customers.
The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) recently presented its 2010 Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards. In the Printing Achievement category, congratulations go out to Bemis Flexible Packaging Div., Milprint, and Sonoco Flexible Packaging which both won Gold Awards. A complete listing of all the FPA category award winners can be found on p. 32.
The Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) announced that several of its members won awards in the World Label Association Awards Competition. This competition selects winners from a group comprising first-place winners from association label competitions around the globe. TLMI members winning this distinction include Taylor Made Labels, McDowell Label & Screen Printing, CL&D Digital, and Dow Industries.
Taking its place among these awards contests, packagePRINTING's Excellence Awards competition will be held for the 24th year. It is unique in many ways. It not only includes all packaging categories, but also covers all major printing processes.
The cover story for the August issue of packagePRINTING is focused on the award winners in our contest each year. Recent winners of the Best of Show award that have adorned the cover include labels from Dow Industries, MPI Label Systems of California, and All Stick Label (ASL). My all-time favorite was in 2006 when a picture of Marilyn Monroe was on the cover, highlighting Rotocolor's "Marilyn Merlot" Best of Show winning label.
It is not only package printers that get recognition; companies that supply materials and equipment to winning package printers get some bragging rights, too. Last year, Steve Durham, ASL's senior account manager, singled out both the Gallus press and Kodak's NX stochastic technology as being key contributors that helped them achieve the "outstanding results for our client."
