A Special Sneak Peek at SuperCorrExpo
The most powerful global hub of corrugated networking and educational opportunities in the Western Hemisphere is returning this fall, featuring four days of education and networking in sunny Florida. The 2016 TAPPI AICC SuperCorrExpo, held every four years, is scheduled for Oct. 17 to 20, and for the first time in its history, will visit the Orlando Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., the leading international destination for business and leisure travelers.
Several top-notch keynote speakers will take the stage to address attendees, including Eduardo Posada, an industry leader and CEO of Grupo Gondi and Kevin Kallaugher, the first resident editorial cartoonist for The Economist.
- Posada has been an instrumental leader in Gondi’s growth and consolidation since becoming CEO in 2008. With 24 years of industry experience, he has first-hand knowledge of the outlook for the corrugated industry in Mexico, the state of the Mexican economy and some of the social concerns facing the country. Posada’s array of insight and knowledge will offer both an intriguing viewpoint and more depth and understanding to current issues facing the industry.
- Kevin “Kal” Kallaugher is an award-winning editorial cartoonist, most notably as the first resident editorial cartoonist in the 145-year history of the Economist. Using his sharp wit and biting insight, Kal tackles today’s issues with well-placed humor and precision art. His presentation covers current events, politics and the economy and evokes the power of perspective. Kal has been a featured speaker at TED talks, Harvard University and at well-known corporations such as Pixar and Google. His interactive presentation is sure to be comedic and highly memorable.
While the keynote speakers will provide a rousing start to the beginning of each day, attendees will have many opportunities to visit the exhibit and attend sessions during all four days of the event, centering on the most important issues and topics. For example, session topics will include steam supply systems, glue roll inspection application and design, new flute profiles and their purpose and 130" corrugated operations and technical challenges.
Two of the days will feature a rotating format in which topics will be repeated three times within a 90-minute period, allowing attendees to freely move from one topic to another.
Before SuperCorrExpo is officially underway, there will be several supplemental pre-conference workshops. On Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16, Dick Target of On Target Consultants will offer his popular “Flexo and Rotary Diecutters Calibration” course, which provides attendees with a better understanding of machine calibration and how to maintain proper board caliper during the converting process.
Also on Sunday, Jon Porter of Fosber America will teach a one-day “Introduction to Corrugated” course. This course targets personnel who desire a solid working knowledge on corrugator operations, quality inspections, process troubleshooting and improving runnability.
While SuperCorrExpo attendees are sure to gain additional industry knowledge and insight, the four days in Florida will feature many fun and relaxing opportunities to network with customers, friends and peers.
The event will kick off with the Corrugated Classic Golf Tournament, which will be held at the Shingle Creek Golf Club, located mere minutes from the event host hotels. Then, on Sunday evening, the SuperCorrExpo Welcome Reception will be held at the Hilton Hotel.
Following the first day of exhibits on Monday, a networking reception will be held in the Orange County Convention Center. Tuesday evening will feature an offsite trip for paid conference attendees to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.
New for 2016, Wednesday will be “International Day”, featuring an internationally themed reception which is open to everyone.
