Martin Automatic Inc. has signed a cooperation agreement with XOL Automation to distribute Martin’s automatic splicing, rewinding, and tension control equipment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

A panel of label industry experts announced the winner of the R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award as Helmut Schreiner, executive manager and owner of the Schreiner Group. The judging panel convened during the recent FINAT Congress in Sicily and selected Schreiner from a number of high-caliber nominations. The award is sponsored by Avery Dennison.

John R. Martin, a pioneer in the development of web-handling and automatic roll-changing technology, died February 27, after a brief illness. An entrepreneur known for his irreverent sense of humor as well as his engineering acumen, Martin, who founded Martin Automatic Inc. in 1968, was 74.
