IIMAK and InkSure Enter Into Exclusive Distribution Agreement
June 27, 2007

FT. LAUDERDALE, Florida and AMHERST, New York—InkSure Technologies Inc., a provider of covert machine-readable authentication solutions, and IIMAK (International Imaging Materials, Inc.), manufacturer of thermal transfer ribbons, announced that they have entered into an exclusive international authentication distribution agreement for the joint development and marketing of TrackSure covert barcode solutions for the prevention of product diversion. The Agreement provides that IIMAK will be InkSure’s exclusive thermal transfer ribbon (TTR) supplier, and InkSure will be IIMAK’s exclusive supplier of security taggants, where TTR technology is used for the printing of covert barcodes. Both companies agree to market the InkSure-encoded IIMAK TTR for the printing of

Bar codes revolutionized automatic identification and data collection more than 30 years ago. However, with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) attracting all the attention and developmental mind power, are bar codes soon to be obsolete? That’s not likely. In fact, bar codes and human-readable information are still required on smart labels to validate the products inside cases and pallets, and they are expected to remain an important part of RFID labels for many years. This is no more a relief than for suppliers of thermal transfer printers and materials. Thermal transfer printing has come a long way since its inception and relies on heat to

Today's thermal transfer printers and materials are keeping up with the ever-escalating demands on package printing. THERMAL TRANSFER PRINTING has been around for years. It's the old reliable when it comes to coding and marking on packaging—printing clean bar codes, lot numbers, and other variable information time after time. But even proven technology has room for improvement, especially in the changing world of packaging. Demands on package performance are rapidly escalating with today's consumer security issues and graphic requirements. And as the capabilities of package printing technology and equipment are enhanced to keep up with changing expectations, so too are thermal transfer printers

Thermal transfer printing offers printers and converters easy money-making opportunities, among several other benefits. WITH ALL THE talk about variable data printing these days, packagePRINTING went straight to the experts to find out the fundamentals of thermal transfer printing and what it can do for today's package printers and converters. pP: What are the main benefits that thermal transfer printing offers printers and converters? Amy Schmitt, IIMAK marketing communications manager: Advantages include: • Flexibility—Changing variable data is quick and easy when managed electronically. This significantly reduces downtime when compared to hot stamp or ink imprinting. Unlike hot stamp or ink imprinting, there are no

Thermal transfer printing is a proven, versatile printing process that continues to expand its reach. THERMAL TRANSFER PRINTING is a proven, industrial printing process that can be tailored to meet a wide range of application needs. Its tracks can be found in everything from coffee bags, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, snack foods, prepared foods, and processed meats and cheeses, says Glenn Breslauer, director of IT marketing for Bell-Mark Corp. (Pine Brook, N.J.). One of the reasons for this widespread use is its ability to print variable information. "Thermal transfer allows a package to be coded with variable information in real-time," states Breslauer. "Not only

The need for versatility has spawned a growth of new thermal transfer ribbons. Many converters have come to accept that when working with thermal transfer printers, you can't always get what you want, especially in terms of the wax/resin materials being fed through the press. Inevitably, there are a slew of basic limitations with most of these ribbons where performance in one area may be top of the line, but in other areas the same material may be lacking fundamental qualities. For example, a wax resin may have good chemical resistance, but may smudge or scratch when rubbed. Or a ribbon may work well
