Ashland Performance Materials, a unit of the US-based Ashland has developed a water-based cold-seal adhesive for the European food packaging industry. The Pureseal 23322E synthetic cold-seal adhesive provides benefits for flexographic food packaging printing that includes enabling shorter specialised runs, which are of particular importance in the confectionery bar market and that it can be applied as an overall coat or pattern. Ashland claims, the technology provides manufacturers with an opportunity to produce cold-seal flexible packaging on existing narrow-web press equipment.
