ePac Flexible Packaging, a multi-location company producing entirely digitally-printed flexible packaging, has announced it will be opening a new facility in Boston. The plant will serve the New England region and will focus on the packaging needs of small and medium sized brands.

Kala Packaging, a Utah-based labels and packaging converter, purchased a second HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press at Labelexpo Americas 2018. The press was purchased due to the company's desire to meet the increasing demand for digitally-printed flexible packaging.

HP will demonstrate its latest innovations across the HP Indigo Digital Press portfolio at Labelexpo Americas 2018. Visitors to its booth will be able to put labels through resistance tests at the Pack Ready for labels station, see HP SmartStream Collage in action and learn about HP Indigo’s never-seen-before security and brand protection with an escape room experience.

At Labelexpo Americas, Xeikon will debut its new Label Discovery solution, which provides an entry-level platform for digital label printing and converting. Label Discovery consists of a Xeikon 3030 press and entryDcoat, Xeikon's new digital converting line.

Two of the biggest trends in the packaging industry are the continued rise of digital printing and the growing market share flexible packaging is enjoying in the food and beverage markets. In the 2018 packagePRINTING Excellence Awards, Inland Packaging demonstrated its prowess in producing digitally printed flexible packaging, sweeping the category with entries printed on its HP Indigo 20000 digital press.

If there are any remaining skeptics of the high-quality printing that can be done with digital technology, the work coming out of Multi-Color Corporation's Mile End South, Australia, facility should put those doubts to rest. This digitally printed label proved that it could go head to head with conventional printing, and even earned consideration for the title of Best of Show in the packagePRINTING Excellence Awards.

The fourth-annual Digital Packaging Summit will be held from November 5-7 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., building on its mission of connecting digital packaging equipment suppliers and package printers for three days of education and networking. Atlas Die, Barberán, MPS and Label Traxx are the latest suppliers to join the 2018 event as sponsors.

Flint Group will be highlighting its full array of package printing solutions during Labelexpo Americas. The solutions on display will include Flint Group's flexographic products, digital solutions and narrow web inks and coatings.

Xeikon hosted its second edition of Xeikon Café North America last week, highlighting its latest innovations in digital printing, sharing digital printing success stories, and providing a glimpse into what the company has in store for Labelexpo Americas in the fall.

As a supplier of both inkjet and toner solutions, the event focused on how Xeikon can help advise printers on the right technology solutions for their needs.
