Sun Chemical to Feature Solutions for Sustainability and Operational Efficiency at INFOFLEX 2025

Showcasing its newest products for the flexible packaging market, Sun Chemical will demonstrate its commitment to advancing sustainable solutions at INFOFLEX 2025 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Under the theme “Experience. Transformation.,” Sun Chemical will exhibit its unique portfolio of inks, coatings and adhesives, offering comprehensive innovations for flexible film and paper packaging. This complete product range enables Sun Chemical to provide solutions that maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact.

• Compliant with stringent European food safety regulations and designed for use in high-heat industrial ovens, the award-winning SunVisto AquaHeat water-based flexographic inks are made up of over 60% bio-based raw materials, offering an eco-friendly solution for high-quality printing of vibrant colors for food packaging applications.
• Recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) for enabling high quality, natural recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE), SunSpectro SolvaWash FL+ solvent-based flexo inks are washable/de-inkable, primer-free and designed to enhance flexo printability as well as PET bottle recycling.
• Honored with a Flexographic Technical Association award for its contribution to sustainable innovation, the SunUno Solimax AP multi-purpose system of solvent-based inks and overprints is used for snack food applications and meets market requirements for compostability, reducing landfill and improving end-of-life scenarios.
• Compatible with both mercury-vapor and LED lamps, SolarWave CRCL UV LED curing flexo inks are designed to help reduce energy consumption during production. These primer-free, de-inkable and recycle-friendly inks are designed to fully wash off printed substrates without bleeding, allowing high quality recyclates.

• With optimal performance at high press speeds and compatibility with a wide range of substrates, SolarFlex UV flexo inks are low odor, low migration and meet regulatory requirements for primary and secondary food packaging.
• Sun Chemical’s SunStrato HydroLam water-based lamination inks are designed to work with many lamination systems including solvent, solvent-less and extrusion. Several of these versatile inks are Swiss Ordinance-compliant for indirect food contact applications.
• SunSpectro Hydropoly water-based inks and coatings exhibit fast drying properties with excellent adhesion and rub resistance for surface printing on a variety of films.
• SunLam ultra-low monomer (ULM) solvent-based and solvent-free laminating adhesives offer exceptional worker safety and food regulation compliance, adhering to increasingly stringent global regulations. These adhesives also offer excellent runnability and cost advantages.
• SunScreen coating weight monitoring systems are compatible with all Sun Chemical coatings.  This technology allows for in-line, real-time coating weight monitoring for increased quality and reduced scrap rates.

Contributing to INFOFLEX’s “Defining the Target” speaker session on Sunday, May 4^th, Jim Felsberg will present “Challenges of Sustainable Packaging with a Focus on Color” from 4:15 p.m.–5:30 p.m. in room 304/305. With a focus on overcoming the challenges of sustainable packaging, this presentation will discuss achieving color and sustainability targets through appropriate pigment selections and the impact of various print processes on sustainability goals.

Moe Rahmeh, Technical Customer Service Functional Excellence Director at Sun Chemical, will contribute to the “Go With the Flow” speaker session through a presentation entitled “Optimizing Ink Performance for High-Speed Printing” on Wednesday, May 7^th from 9:00 a.m.–10:15 a.m. This presentation delves into the intricacies of ink formulation and its role in ensuring flawless, efficient production in high-speed printing environments.
