AUSTIN, TX—January 14, 2015—HeatGenie, an innovator of convenience packaging technology, has developed a patent-pending Recloseable Easy-Open End technology that is now available for license. The company's flagship technology, a high efficiency self-heating packaging technology, is in consumer trials at a number of food and beverage categories and continues to be the company's focus. The HeatGenie self-heating technology is now being manufactured under license by WANHO Manufacturing, an ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturer.
Hundreds of billions of food and beverage cans with "easy-opening" metal ends are produced each year. Consumers worldwide are familiar with the pull-tab soda can. Recloseability offers added convenience to consumers and is a feature often found on plastic containers and bottles but not conventional metal food and beverage cans. Conventional forms of easy open-end technology such as pull-tab and peel-seam ends do not readily lend themselves to reclosing.
Market research has shown that in many cases, consumers would like the option to reclose pull-tab beverage cans. The patent-pending HeatGenie closure technology is designed to be reclosed and offers additional consumer friendly advantages with greater ease of opening, the elimination of sharp edges, and at a cost that is comparable to existing easy open ends currently in commercial use. The patent- pending technology can also be customized to a variety of opening sizes from the conventional pour spout, to quarter, half, and even full aperture food cans.
The HeatGenie Recloseable technology is being shared with leading food and beverage companies under non-disclosure agreements and will be licensed for production.
