FetterGroup Recognized by EPA
LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized FetterGroup in the first group of manufacturing sites that have met the Energy Star Challenge for Industry and reduced their energy intensity by 10 percent or more within five years or less. Under this program, EPA is working with companies to fight climate change and save money through improvements in energy efficiency.
FetterGroup is one of eight U.S. companies to participate in the latest EPA initiative. Since adopting a comprehensive energy plan in 2007, FetterGroup has reduced its overall energy usage by 33 percent and reduced CO2 emissions by 4,776,000 pounds, the equivalent of the annual impact from 414 cars.
FetterGroup President and CEO Terry Gill, credits its energy policy with easing the economic uncertainty over the last two years. Gill says, "The importance of a strong energy policy in the manufacturing and industrial sectors makes clear financial sense. The monetary savings we have seen from our environmental policy is the most compelling reason to pursue these measures. The incremental savings add up and those savings translate into new equipment, new investments in technology, and more jobs."
