LAS VEGAS—October 21, 2014—My Press Needs (MPN) has sold its Crest patent-pending Widemouth prototype to Graphic Tech, which will serve as a beta test site. Developed and engineered by MPN, Widemouth technology may re-define how the industry die cuts thicker substrates, including corrugated, plastic and structural board like Falconboard. Widemouth enables the Crest Clamshell to go from a normal .937” steel rule die up to a 3” steel rule within seconds to cut thicker materials with an edge quality similar to a router table.
Jim Blee, COO of Fullerton, CA-based Graphic Tech, said he thinks the Widemouth Crest will open up new markets for the company. “We’re interested in the possibility of diecutting thicker substrates and we think the Crest can help us do that. The large format segment of the market is high volume for us, and the makeready speed and type of cutting the new Crest does fits what we need.”
