Six Best of Shows Presented at 2017 Excellence in Flexography Awards

Flexographic Technical Association’s (FTA) 2017 Excellence in Flexography Awards was, yet again, a competition to go down in the books, ranking as one of the strongest in the past 57 years. In front of an audience of hundreds, winners were revealed on April 30 at FTA’s Annual Awards Banquet at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix, in Phoenix, Ariz.

The evening, a centerpiece of FTA’s Annual Forum,  was filled with brilliant displays of printing excellence on all levels. From sharp images and tight registration to consistent repeats and proof to print matching – award recipients proved the importance of attention to detail and unparalleled overall execution. The winners, totaling 121 awards, consisted of:

• 39 Gold
• 42 Silver
• 37 Bronze
• 2 Self Promotion awards
• 1 Non-Traditional award

“Best of Show” designees (selected from the gold award recipients in their respective categories) in the 2017 Excellence in Flexography Awards included:

• Advance Packaging Corp. for its Berkley Jensen Ultra Laundray Detergent Carton – combined corrugated, screen
• Industrias de Plasticos S.A., for its Terra Sweets Medley Wrapper – mid-web, process, film
• MackayMitchell, for its Paralyzed Veterans of America Tropical Flowers Envelope – envelope, process, uncoated
• Packaging Technologies Inc., for its Zavida Coffee Roasters Organica Box- preprinted linerboard, process
• Smyth Companies, LLC, for its Cozy Sunday Morning Body Cream Label – narrow-web, process, metallized
• Transcontinental Robbie, for its Tops Herb Seasoned Crouton/Italian Seasoned Croutons Wrapper – wide-web, process, filM

Award winners will proudly be displayed both days of FTA’s 2017 INFO*FLEX (May 1-2 in Phoenix, Ariz.) in the Excellence Award Winner’s Gallery on the show floor at the Phoenix Convention Center.
