Colbert Packaging Completes Two Acquisitions
CHICAGO—Colbert Packaging Corporation, a manufacturer of folding cartons, rigid paper boxes, and paperboard specialty products, announced that it has completed the acquisitions of two carton manufacturers, Dayton Carton in Louisville, Ky., and Crown Paper Box in Indianapolis, Ind. The acquisition of Dayton Carton is all-inclusive of its facility, equipment, inventory, employees, customer accounts, and all other assets. Colbert Packaging is retaining the Dayton Carton facility in Louisville and rebranding it as one of its own. The acquisition of Crown Paper Box, which was finalized on Nov. 11, included its customer accounts, inventory, and account managers. Crown Paper Box customers formerly serviced out of Indianapolis are now being serviced through existing Colbert facilities in Lake Forest, Ill., Elkhart, Ind., and the newly acquired Louisville facility.
“It is an honor to welcome customers and employees of Dayton Carton and Crown Paper Box into the Colbert family,” said Jim Hamilton, president of Colbert Packaging. “These acquisitions are firmly rooted in our strategic vision and continued growth, and we are pleased to be able to provide additional service and capacity to Crown and Dayton customers, as well as to Colbert’s existing regional and national customers through the Louisville operation. At the same time, we are excited to be able to offer Dayton and Crown customers our diversified packaging portfolio, the full breadth of our expertise, and the quality and service commitments of our entire team.”
The production of folding cartons and rigid setup boxes still lies at the heart of Colbert’s 50-year history. Through innovation and expansion, Colbert’s portfolio now also includes paperboard specialty products, flexographic printed packaging, tamper-proof patented blister packaging, sustainable packaging, security solutions, pressure-sensitive roll labels, and a growing line of market-specific packaging products.
Dayton Carton has specialized in the manufacture of stock and custom folding cartons since its founding in 1974. It is recognized for providing quality products, services, and packaging design innovation, as evidenced by the prestigious awards garnered by their packaging design team. In addition to offering Dayton customers a complete line of packaging solutions, including folding cartons and paperboard specialty products, Colbert is also maintaining Dayton’s successful stock box program, which simplifies the ordering process for Dayton customers.
Crown Paper Box was founded in 1946 to offer folding cartons and custom product packaging solutions that are designed to stimulate retail sales through improved product marketing, package design, and package security. Crown became known for custom-engineering solutions to meet the unique packaging and marketing requirements of its customers. Colbert Packaging has incorporated Crown’s folding carton operation into its own successful folding carton operations.
The acquisitions of independent carton manufacturers Dayton Carton and Crown Paper Box by Colbert Packaging unite 148 years of folding carton legacy, traditions, and excellence.
