Expanded Digital Summit Returns to Barcelona
BARCELONA—The organizers of Labelexpo Global Series have announced that the Digital Label Summit 2010 (www.labelsummit.com) will take place from June 29-30 at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I in Barcelona.
The summit is being held in response to the increased demand from the package printing and label industry for digital technology. This year, the summit will explore in greater detail the direction that digital solutions and applications will take in the future. With new generations of fully-integrated digital presses and high added-value conventional/digital in-line combination presses evolving, as well as an increase in inkjet technology, the interest regarding these latest advances in the label and packaging sectors is growing considerably. The Summit reviews the latest developments and applications in integrated, in-line, and stand-alone toner and UV-curable inkjet presses for self-adhesive, shrink sleeve and heat transfer labels, flexible packaging, cartons, pouches, and tubes.
The Digital Label Summit 2010 will have a strong educational element with a conference and table-top exhibition. The conference will have industry experts speaking, putting forward case studies, and sitting on panels that will explore new technologies and applications for the digital printing of labels, tickets/tags, and flexible packaging. It will also assess opportunities for combination printing. Brand owners will be invited to talk about their experience of digitally printed labels and packs and their expectations for future developments.
Exhibitors will include machine manufacturers of liquid-toner, dry-toner, and inkjet technologies, as well as material suppliers of multiple substrates, prepress origination, digital platemaking and diecutting, digital proofing, and all ancillary-related products.
“Following the success of the Digital Label Summit last year, it makes sense to continue the event in 2010,” says Mike Fairley, a consultant on labels. “All developments and trends, together with new advances in digital prepress, digital finishing and diecutting, and the fast-evolving end-user applications for digital printing, will be examined and discussed at the summit. Label converters, packaging printers, label and pack designers, and brand owners looking to know where their businesses will be competing and growing in the future should most definitely be at the Digital Label Summit in Barcelona.”
