Packaging Graphics Installs Folder-Gluer
PAWTUCKET, R.I.—Packaging Graphics, LLC (a division of the Matlet Group) has installed a new Bobst EXPERTFOLD 110 A2 CS folder-gluer. The high-speed, computer set folder-gluer is the most recent addition to the finishing department of its 300,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
"When it comes to equipment and technology, we invest proactively in anticipation of market trends and customer requirements, but we also needed the extra capacity that the EXPERTFOLD has brought to our operation," says Brad Lopez, finishing manager of Packaging Graphics. "Continual improvement of our facilities, equipment, and personnel is a priority for us. It's necessary to allow us to continue to exceed the quality and productivity requirements of our customers, while controlling costs for both Packaging Graphics and our customers."
CALIFORNIA
FULLERTON—Victory Screen Printing recently purchased an Inca Onset S20 UV flatbed printer, which offers POP quality production at speeds up to 2,690 sq. ft. per hour. The press will be the first to be installed on the West Coast.
KENTUCKY
LOUISVILLE—The Standard Group, an independent folding carton converter, is installing an 8-color Mitsubishi Diamond V3000LX sheetfed press equipped with a UV coater at its Southern Standard Cartons division. The press replaces a 7-color, 51˝ Mitsubishi 5FC.
MICHIGAN
KALAMAZOO—Western Michigan University (WMU) will use a Vishay Intertechnology web tension measurement system in its Coating Pilot Plant. WMU's Coating Pilot Plant, located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is a research center for papermaking, coating, printing, and recycling. The upgraded system precisely measures the sheet web tension between the coater backing rolls and the chill-roll S-wrap.
NEBRASKA
OMAHA— YORK Label, a provider of labeling and package decoration solutions, is imlementing the Radius Solutions PECAS Vision as its standard system to manage its operations. The printer will implement PECAS Vision across its facilities, integrated with a tier-one financial application.
NEW YORK
BUFFALO—The Colad Group, LLC, a designer and manufacturer of presentation and promotional products, has purchased a Xeikon 6000 digital color press capable of running 20 inch wide substrate rolls with virtually no limitations in length with substrate weights as light as 27 lb. text and as heavy as 16 pt. paperboard.
NEW YORK—Ron Shemesh, CEO of New York-based Excelsior Packaging Group, placed an order for two 10-color, 52˝ MIRAFLEX presses from Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corporation. The presses will be delivered in early 2010.
Excelsior Packaging Group, Inc. also announced that it and Fischer & Krecke GmbH have entered into contracts for three additional FP 36S-10 printing presses.
SHERBURNE—Mid-York Press, Inc. recently purchased a new Bobst EXPERTCUT 106 PER Autoplaten® diecutter and a Bobst MASTERFOLD folder-gluer with hook-free folding technology.
OHIO
CINCINNATI—The Printing Plant, a printer of prime labels for the high-end food packaging and health and beauty markets, has purchased a 16˝, 10-color Nilpeter FG 4200 flexographic printing press. The sleeve system on the FG helps reduce makeready time and waste during job setup. The ultra violet ink curing system and the precise electronic auto registration options allow high-level image reproduction.
