Cadmus Offers Process for Voucher Card Verification
CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The use of voucher cards to facilitate the distribution of prescription drug samples is increasing in frequency. Voucher cards promote greater accountability versus physician-distributed samples as they contain variable data unique to each medication and administering physician. Seeing the importance of ensuring the accuracy of this data, Cadmus has implemented
a new, efficient in-line process for voucher card production and verification.
Cadmus has two ways of verifying voucher card data, which can be used together or independently. The vision/camera system uses optical character recognition (OCR) to verify data against a database. The barcode system uses high-speed barcode verification/validation. These systems are performed inline as the product is imaged, folded and glued.
Cadmus recently produced voucher cards for a major pharmaceutical company to administer blood pressure medication samples. “With this technology, we were able to produce and verify half a million voucher cards in a much tighter timeframe than previously possible,” says Patti Thomas, quality manager.
