Amcor Flexibles Wins Big at FPA Awards
ZURICH—March 4, 2015—Amcor Flexibles was the proud recipient of two awards at the Flexible Packaging Association’s (FPA) Annual Achievement Awards held on March 3, in Naples, Florida. FPA is the leading trade organization for flexible packaging converters and suppliers. Its Annual Achievement Awards honor packaging and converting organizations that demonstrate breakthrough technologies, printing techniques, package structures, environmental advantages and new end-uses.
Amcor Flexibles received a Gold Award in the ‘Technical Innovation’ category for Dessiflex, desiccant impregnated films used in products in medical, pharmaceutical and other markets. Amcor’s Dessiflex is extremely effective at both removing moisture within a package and retarding moisture penetration through sealed edges of the package. The patented technology incorporates desiccant into the primary packaging eliminating the need for sachets and other types of moisture scavengers. Dessiflex even removes retained moisture from packages exposed to high humidity sterilization.
It also reduces the environmental footprint approximately 20 percent compared to a pouch with a desiccant sachet. Amcor’s Dessiflex provides a unique combination of simplified production and shelf life extension. It is simpler and better desiccant packaging.
Amcor Flexibles also received a Silver Award in the ‘Sustainability’ category for Amcor’s SachetLite used for hard-to-hold products in home, personal care and other markets. Amcor’s SachetLite is an environmentally friendly alternative to standard high-barrier sachet packaging. It provides the moisture and oxygen barrier required for sensitive products, the chemical resistance needed for aggressive products, and the robust package appearance desired for a premium brand image. SachetLite’s environmental footprint is a reduction of at least 25 percent on most measures and almost 54 percent on water consumption. SachetLite is part of Amcor’s product offerings with reduced environmental impact.
